The journey continues...Part 2

Dementia Healing

My mother and father had a loving relationship. They were opposites in many ways, my father being social and fun loving and my mother preferring to stay home most of the time. She put her focus and attention on raising my sister and I. Life was pretty good for my mom. Dad worked hard so she didn't have to work and instead she volunteered for the swim club and was very involved in our swim experience. Our dad was always lively and fun and very generous. He struggled with some vices and that strained the relationship. My parents separated when I was 16 years old and formally divorced when I went to college.

I know being separated from my father was difficult, she couldn't support his lifestyle but still loved him very much. Being without my dad was tough for my mom and she gained weight and fell into depression. I think moving out of the house that we were raised in was difficult. My dad was able to make changes in his life and he proposed to my mom over the next 10 years. My mom accepted my dad's 3rd proposal. :)
